It was a good debut for Oregon Team and their Norma M30 LMP3 racecar at Silverstone, in the first round of the 2017 European Le Mans Series. The Italian squad finished 12th but, beyond the final result, the French racecar fielded by Jerry Canevisio, Giorgio Testa and their team ran flawlessly for over three hours in free practice and qualifying.
The amount of laps logged by Davide Roda, Andrés Méndez and Dario Capitanio was pivotal in approaching the series for the first time: Capitanio was also designated for qualifying.
“Overall we are pretty satisfied – said Jerry Canevisio – Our car is working well and we did not experience any kind of setback. That’s what we were hoping for here at Silverstone. We were not pretending to be among the frontrunners, and the race will be pretty long tomorrow. Méndez, as well as Capitanio, showed some serious pace while Roda, who was the only one not knowing the track, kept improving consistently.”
The Norma fielded by Oregon Team ended up with a spot in row 11 with 35 cars on the roster in the series’ three classes, LMP2, LMP3 and LMGTE.
The four-hour race will take-off tomorrow at 14:30 (15.30 CEST). Live streaming will be available on www.europeanlemansseries.com.
