“The one at Silverstone won’t be an easy trip for sure, but we are definitely going to try our best.” Jerry Canevisio is setting the tone for the fourth out of six European Le Mans Series rounds of 2018 which is taking place at the British track of Silverstone.
It’s going to be a torrid weekend even track-wise, and Oregon Team is ready to keep momentum by lining-up its full-season trio of Riccardo Ponzio, Andrés Méndez, and Clément Mateu, sharing driving duties aboard the #10 Norma M30 LMP3.
Both Ponzio and quick “bronze” driver Mateu will be at their maiden race at the Northamptonshire track, a place that provides many variables to deal with and a great proving ground for the French sportscar fielded by Canevisio, Giorgio Testa, and their team.
The goal is now to keep progressing. At the Red Bull Ring, last July, an incident triggered by two LMP2 cars jeopardized the race of Ponzio, Méndez, and Mateu after the excellent seventh fastest lap time in class secured in qualifying. In the previous round at Monza, the team had brought home the 8th place after the eleventh position scored in the inaugural round of Paul Ricard in April.
The Silverstone 4 Hours will start on Saturday at 14.30, with qualifying scheduled in the morning and two practice sessions on Friday.
