Oregon Team in search of more glory in 2018 European Le Mans Series finale

Oregon Team is bracing for its last stop of the year in Portimão. The Algarve circuit in Portugal will host the final round of the 2018 European Le Mans Seriesthis weekend (Oct. 27th and 28th), and the Italian squad led by Jerry Canevisio and Giorgio Testa will return on-track with its Norma M30 LMP3 and the trio of Riccardo Ponzio, Andrés Méndez and “Bronze” racer Clément Mateu.

The trip is definitely going to provide many challenging variables, starting from the fact that both Ponzio and Mateu will be driving for the first time at the outstanding and highly-demanding 4.7-km venue, renowned as one of the toughest and most fascinating on the schedule. On the other hand, Méndez raced there in 2017 albeit without too much luck: driving an Oregon Team-prepared car, he was forced to an early retirement.

For the Italian squad and all the crew, the last round of 2018 will be a great opportunity to conclude a positive season on a high. At the end of September, at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, Ponzio, Mendéz, and Mateu managed to score a good seventh place in class, confirming an excellent general momentum. Now, it’s time to carry on the same momentum.

The first practice session and the Bronze test will kick-off the Portimão weekend on Friday. The second free practice session and qualifying are scheduled for Saturday, while the four-hour race will start on Sunday at 12.30 local time (13.30 Italian Time).
