Oregon Team lines-up with great morale for 4-Hour Red Bull Ring race

After a 2-month long break, the European Le Mans Series will be back on track this weekend, on July 21st and 22nd, for the 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring, marking the third out of six rounds of the 2018 season. Oregon Team will line-up with great expectations in Austria, relying on their full-time driver roster consisting of Riccardo Ponzio, Clément Mateu and Andrés Méndez, sharing driving duties aboard the team’s Norma M30 LMP3 racecar in a brand new livery.

After a positive season start, the Italian operation, led by Jerry Canevisio and Giorgio Testa, want to keep the momentum high. In the most recent round at Monza, Ponzio delivered the best qualifying effort for the team in two years with a sixth position in class. Then, on race day, the car crossed the finishing line in eighth place. In the opening round of the year, the Oregon Team drivers had kicked-off with a positive 11th place.

On the ups and downs of Styria, the goal will be to continue on the same successful path started at the beginning of the year, aware that the right cards are in place on a venue that suited the French-built sportscar well in the past, as confirmed by the seventh places secured in qualifying and in the race in 2017.

“We are approaching a friendly track for us and I’m convinced that we have what it takes to do well- said Canevisio – Ponzio, Méndez and Mateu are part of a very competitive trio. They have great potential. I’m particularly looking forward to the 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring.”

The event will kick-off on Friday with the running of free practice and Bronze Tests. Qualifying is scheduled for Saturday, while the race will begin on Sunday at 12.00 noon.
