The long-awaited Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season is set to begin this coming weekend at Misano, as Oregon Team makes its official debut in the series entering two top crews. The squad led by Jerry Canevisio and Giorgio Testa faces a new challenge in the Sant’Agata Bolognese’s one-make championship open to the Huracán Super Trofeo Evo 620 Hp cars.
One of the Lambos will be fielded for Pro pair formed by 21-year-old Frenchman Dorian Boccolacci, who is at his first GT experience like his team-mate Kevin Gilardoni. The Italian-Swiss class ’92 racing driver, makes his return to track after five years in rallying and rejoins the team with which he entered the European Mégane Trophy in 2012 and 2013.
A Pro-Am duo is formed by 24-year-old Damiano Fioravanti, who also makes his Lamborghini’s one-make series debut although he already raced a Huracán GT3. The Rome-based youngster will pair with experienced Italian Lorenzo Bontempelli, the latter making his return to the Super Trofeo after a year of absence. Fioravanti and Bontempelli already shared an Oregon Team’s Norma LMP3 car last year in the European Le Mans Series.
The round of Misano, as well as the following four other events – Nürburgring, Barcelona, Spa-Francorchamps and Le Castellet – will be hosted in the same weekend alongside prestigious GT World Challenge Europe.
The two free practice sessions are scheduled on Friday, August 7. The two 20-minute qualifying sessions will start on Saturday at 14,20 and 14,50, whilst the first of two 50-minute races will commence at 20,50. Race 2 will start on Sunday at 13,20. Both races will be live streamed on official Lamborghini Squadra Corse YouTube and Facebook.
