Oregon Team back on home soil for 4-Hour ELMS race at Monza

One month after its 2017 season opener at Silverstone, the European Le Mans Series is ready to go back on-track. Back in the UK, the Oregon Team made their debut in the ACO-promoted series with the brand-new Norma M30 LMP3 racecar, shared by Colombian Andrés Méndez and Italians Dario Capitanio and Davide Roda.

The goal for their first race in the series for the team owned by Jerry Canevisio and Giorgio Testa was to make experience in a brand-new environment and with a car just barely sampled on-track in the two test sessions before Silverstone. Everything worked as expected with no mechanical issues throughout the whole weekend and a complete race on the books.

While the car ended up quite down the order in the opening round of the series, Monza is set to be different. In what is the only Italian round of the series, the Team will aim for some remarkable results: “Monza is our home track even though we haven’t been racing there for a while – said Jerry Canevisio – Although the round at Monza will be just our second with the Norma, we will be back on-track to do well and aim for something more than it was our goal at Silverstone”.

The Monza circuit is also the real home venue for Como-based Davide Roda, but the track is also familiar for the two Silver drivers Capitanio and Méndez. The experience made by the whole team with the French manufacturer’s LMP3 will be a pillar in order to aim for great results at the front end of the charts.

The much-anticipated Italian round of the series will start with the first 90-minute practice session, while the second is scheduled for Saturday morning. Qualifying will also be held on Saturday. The 4-hour race is set for green flag on Sunday at 13:30.
